Election day is upon us in one of the most crucial elections in our lifetime. As an immigrant who migrated from Belize with my family years ago for greater opportunities, this election hits especially close to home. I couldn’t imagine not being allowed to enter the United States to pursue my childhood dream of becoming a fashion designer ,which seemed impossible for a little girl from Belize. Not only was I able to attend one of the top fashion colleges in the country ,but that dream became my reality. I became a fashion designer in New York City . Not bad for an island gal with big city dreams .It is critical that we make our voices heard and take a stand for what is right . We must protect our country’s democracy and keep the dream in tact.
In many cases people hesitate to vote in fear it will make no difference, but there is true strength in numbers. The right to vote is a privilege that should not be taken lightly. Everyone’s opinion should be heard. In America’s democracy, we value our ability to choose who is in office, and revel in the fact that we have a say in what goes on in the political world. Many citizens of other countries do not have the option to change the world however, we do!
Let’s all go to the polls and make a statement ! #imwithher
As always thanks for passing by!
